Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program
Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove Medical Center’s pulmonary rehabilitation program provides specialized therapy, exercise and education to improve quality of life and functional capacity for patients suffering from pulmonary conditions.
Our multidisciplinary pulmonary rehabilitation team includes pulmonologists, respiratory therapists, exercise physiologists, registered nurses, dietitians and psychologists.
Candidates for Pulmonary Rehabilitation
People with the following conditions may benefit from pulmonary rehabilitation:
- Emphysema
- Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
- Asthma
- Chronic Bronchitis
- And other pulmonary conditions such as lung surgery
Pulmonary Program Details
Program participants meet for 36 sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Center for Fitness and Health at Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove Medical Center. Each class is 1.25 hours long. The Center for Fitness and Health offers state-of-the-art exercise and strength training equipment to help rehabilitate those with pulmonary conditions.
Patients must be referred to pulmonary rehabilitation by a physician.
Insurance
Medicare and most insurance plans cover pulmonary rehabilitation. Hospital staff will assist in verifying insurance benefits.
