What to Expect
You may get a referral for cardiac rehab during a doctor appointment or a hospital stay. In a group orientation setting, a member of our team will meet with you to talk about the cardiac rehab program and answer questions.
Monitored Exercise Program
Count on our team to assess your health and goals to create an exercise and education plan personalized to you. You’ll most likely have group exercise sessions three days per week lasting up to 36 sessions or 12 weeks.
During monitored exercise in a supportive, friendly setting, you’ll improve your cardiovascular fitness with the guidance and support of our professionals. Rely on a registered nurse (RN) or exercise physiologist to:
- Lead you through warm-up, conditioning, strengthening, cool-down and relaxation activities
- Track your progress from week to week and share updates with your doctor
- Teach you exercises you can do to at home
Heart Health Education & Counseling
Learn about your specific condition and review strategies to make your heart stronger and avoid future problems. During individualized counseling sessions, get educational materials and resources on:
- Core conditioning
- Flexibility and strength training
- Management of health conditions such as high cholesterol and diabetes
- Nutrition counseling
- Smoking cessation
- Stress management
- Weight management
Cardiac Rehab Support Groups
Get encouragement and information and share your experiences in our support groups, including:
- Heart to Heart Support Group
- Mended Hearts
- Women Heart
After Cardiac Rehab
Count on our team to offer continued support and answer questions so you can live a heart-healthy life.
Take advantage of our optional maintenance program – On Target – for ongoing monitored exercise and support. You'll work with our specialists to create an individualized exercise program with goals that are right for you. If needed, you’ll receive referrals to other health care specialists.
