Your Rehabilitation Plan

Start rehabilitation in the hospital after doctors restore blood supply to the brain following a stroke or transient ischemic attack (TIA). You’ll continue to work with therapists after stroke treatment. Benefit from a whole-person approach that can help you improve your ability to move, speak, care for yourself, think and remember.

Your care plan may include:

  • Hand therapy, including electrical stimulation to help the hand open or regain function
  • Home health services, in-home medical care and nonmedical assistance
  • Neurological rehabilitation, therapies to improve function and reduce effects of stroke
  • Nutrition services and meal planning
  • Other types of rehabilitation services, including occupational, physical, and speech and language therapy
  • Recreational therapy, activities such as music, art, and writing
  • Supportive services such as mental health care and spiritual support
  • Vocational counseling to help you find a job or go back to work

Your Care Team

You can count on your care team of board-certified specialists to:

  • Create a stroke rehabilitation plan that’s right for you and uses the latest evidence-based strategies
  • Give guidance on how to make your home safe and accessible
  • Listen and answer your questions
  • Provide education and support to you, your loved ones and caregivers
