Hospital Preregistration
Save time and take care of needed paperwork before labor when you preregister for your stay at an Adventist HealthCare Birth Center.
Labor & Delivery Suites
You’ll appreciate suites designed with your comfort in mind. Your individual labor and delivery suite is a calm, private space for your birth experience. You’ll receive close, continuous care from specialists who use advanced technology to monitor you and your baby.
If you have a vaginal birth, you’ll be able to stay in the same room throughout labor and delivery.
Your Birth Center Care Team
Expect your multidisciplinary care team to follow your birth plan as much as possible. Enjoy peace of mind knowing Adventist HealthCare is able to provide comprehensive care, including in high-risk situations.
Mother/Baby Suites
Following delivery, you and your baby will move to a homelike, private Mother/Baby suite so you can bond. Your baby’s pediatrician can visit your baby in your room. If your baby needs specialized care, trust they’ll receive the best possible services at our Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) or special care nursery.
Suite Amenities
Enjoy spending time with your newborn in a calming environment. Your Mother/Baby suite offers:
- Bassinet (cradle)
- Private bathroom with a shower
- Sofa bed or recliner for your support person to stay overnight
- Special bed arrangement and night lighting to encourage rest and privacy
- Wi-Fi
Quiet Hours
Take time to rest with your baby and support person in your suite during quiet hours from 1 to 3 p.m. daily.
Birth Center Safety & Security
Depend on our staff to take your family’s safety and wellbeing seriously. During your time at one of our Birth Centers, your baby will never be alone and will always have our attention and care. Talk to your care team if you have questions or concerns about safety.
Matching ID Bands
A provider will place an identification band on each of your baby’s ankles right after birth. The band will include:
- Your name
- Patient ID number
- Date and time of birth
You and a person you choose will get bands that match your baby’s. Wear the bands the entire time you and your baby are in the hospital. If you and your baby are separated, our staff will check the bands when your baby returns to you. Bands can’t be exchanged between people.
Electronic Security System
Trust your baby will be safe thanks to an advanced security system called Hugs. Your baby will wear a soft, tamper-proof tag around his or her ankle. If a tag detects that your baby has moved to an unauthorized location, the Hugs system activates security cameras, sounds an alarm and locks down all elevators and exit doors.
Secured Doors
Feel peace of mind knowing every door that leads into the Labor and Delivery suites, Mother/Baby Unit, NICU and Pediatric Unit is secure. An alarm will sound if anyone other than an authorized Adventist HealthCare staff member opens a door.
Antepartum Unit for High-Risk Pregnancy
If your pregnancy or delivery is high-risk, trust your care to specialists with advanced training. You may stay in the Antepartum Unit at Shady Grove Medical Center if you need medical care before birth or if you experience preterm labor.
