Urgent Care or Emergency Room?
Get immediate care from trusted doctors at Adventist HealthCare in the setting that meets your needs. Choose between urgent care and the emergency room (ER) based on the seriousness of your medical condition.
When to Visit the Emergency Room
If your condition threatens your life or the life of someone else, go to the emergency room. Call 9-1-1 or go to the nearest ER if you experience:
- Bleeding that won’t stop
- Broken bones
- Chest pain or pressure
- Coughing or vomiting blood
- Difficulty breathing
- Fainting
- Head injury or other severe injury or wound
- Poisoning
- Seizure
- Severe abdominal pain, vomiting or diarrhea
- Signs of stroke
- Sudden dizziness, weakness or changes in vision
- Thoughts about hurting yourself or someone else
Is Urgent Care Right For Me?
Your primary care doctor is the best choice for everyday illness and injury care. But if you don’t have a primary care physician, he or she is unavailable or you’re travelling, turn to the experienced urgent care professionals at Adventist HealthCare.
When to Go to Urgent Care
Use a faster, less costly alternative to the ER for minor illnesses and injuries. Patriot Urgent Care, an Adventist HealthCare Partner treats health concerns that aren’t emergencies but still need quick treatment. Visit a walk-in clinic near you if you have:
- Animal bite or bug sting
- Cough, flu, fever or sore throat
- Ear pain
- Migraine headache
- Mild asthma
- Minor burn
- Pink eye
- Rash, eczema or other skin irritations
- Small cuts
- Sprains, strains or minor broken bones
- Urinary tract infection (UTI) or yeast infection
