What to Expect
Right after surgery, your providers will help you feel comfortable in the recovery room and provide high-quality postoperative, or post-op, care.
The time it takes to heal after surgery and the amount of weight you lose depend on the type of surgery and other factors. Most people lose weight quickly and continue to lose weight for 18 to 24 months after surgery if they follow recommended lifestyle changes.
When to Call Your Doctor
Talk to your provider if you have:
- Constipation or diarrhea
- Dehydration
- Nausea or vomiting
- Pain
- Weight gain or no loss of weight
