Adventist HealthCare White Oak Medical Center Earns 4th Consecutive “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group
New Grade for fall 2024 is a national recognition for commitment to patient safety
SILVER SPRING, Md. – Adventist HealthCare White Oak Medical Center earned an "A" Hospital Safety Grade for the 4th consecutive rating period from The Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit watchdog focused on patient safety. Leapfrog assigns an "A," "B," "C," "D" or "F" grade to general hospitals across the country based on more than 30 performance measures reflecting errors, accidents, injuries and infections, as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent them.
"The Leapfrog Group helps set the bar for patient safety," said Anthony Stahl, president of White Oak Medical Center. "With this grade comes a tremendous responsibility to provide the safest, highest-quality care for our patients and community. Our dedicated and compassionate team members take this responsibility seriously as they work to fulfill our mission of extending God’s care through the ministry of physical, mental and spiritual healing."
"We are committed to providing truly exceptional care to our community," said James Rost, MD, chief medical officer of Adventist HealthCare White Oak Medical Center. "Our interdisciplinary clinical and non-clinical teams are focused on continuous improvement and consistently strive to elevate the safety of the patient care environment."
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only hospital ratings program focused solely on preventable medical errors, infections and injuries that kill more than 500 patients a day in the United States. This program is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.
"Achieving an 'A' Hospital Safety Grade is a significant accomplishment for White Oak Medical Center," said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. "It reflects enormous dedication to your patients and their families, and your whole community should be proud. I extend my congratulations to everyone at your hospital for their tireless efforts to put patients first."
