Adventist HealthCare Hospitals Receive National Recognition for Patient Safety from The Leapfrog Group
Gaithersburg, MD – Two Adventist HealthCare hospitals – Fort Washington Medical Center in Fort Washington, MD, and White Oak Medical Center in Silver Spring, MD – have earned an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit organization.
“Adventist HealthCare is committed to patient safety and quality across our world-class health system,” said Terry Forde, president and CEO, Adventist HealthCare. “Patients and their families put their trust in the care our team provides. We take that responsibility seriously and continually work together to make safety a priority throughout our acute-care hospitals and other healthcare facilities.”
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade, updated twice annually in the fall and spring, is the only hospital ratings program focused exclusively on preventable medical errors, infections and injuries, which account for more than 500 patient deaths per day in the United States. Safety grades are peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public.
“This is the first time Fort Washington Medical Center has received the highest hospital safety grade, awarded by The Leapfrog Group, since joining Adventist HealthCare in late 2019. We are absolutely thrilled,” said Eunmee Shim, president, Fort Washington Medical Center. “The ‘A’ safety grade reflects the commitment and hard work of our entire team.”
“We are truly honored to receive this distinction from The Leapfrog Group,” said Anthony Stahl, president, White Oak Medical Center. “Receiving an ‘A’ safety grade for the third consecutive time is a testament to our team’s continued focus on patient safety at every level of care, every time.”
