Adventist HealthCare Names Daffodil Baez, FACHE, MPH, MBA, as New CEO for Howard University Faculty Practice Plan
Gaithersburg, Maryland – After completing an exhaustive nationwide search, Adventist HealthCare has named Daffodil Baez, FACHE, MPH, MBA, as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for the Howard University Faculty Practice Plan (the “Faculty Practice Plan”). Offering multiple specialties with close to 100 physicians, the practice provides the community with access to medical services and is closely connected to the Howard University College of Medicine and Howard University Hospital. Working together, the College of Medicine, hospital and the Faculty Practice Plan serve as a training ground for many of the nation’s top African-American physicians.
As part of the Management Services Agreement with Howard University, Adventist HealthCare has been building a strong leadership team to support and manage all practice operations at the Faculty Practice Plan. This leadership team has already begun to work closely with the Faculty Practice Plan, physicians and leaders at the University.
This agreement is in addition to the agreement between the organizations for Adventist HealthCare to manage Howard University Hospital that began in 2020. With both Management Services Agreement in place, we are ensuring strong collaboration and coordination of healthcare services.
Baez brings extensive experience as a healthcare leader. Recently, as the Assistant Director of Clinical Operations, she directed the launch and operations of a joint venture regional multi-specialty campus for the largest academic medical center in Dallas, Texas, the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. In this role, Baez led a significant academic medical practice with more than 100 physicians across a range of specialties.
With the arrival of Baez and the newly named Chief Operations Officer (COO), Vincent Orange Jr., the leadership team at the Faculty Practice Plan is complete. “I am extremely honored to join Adventist HealthCare and Howard University, which have deep roots in the Washington, D.C., region. I am looking forward to being a part of both institutions and bringing world-class care to our community members, students and faculty,” says Baez.
Along with providing a strong leadership team, Adventist HealthCare will collaborate closely with the physicians and leaders at the Faculty Practice Plan to expand access to care, develop a strong physician network and improve quality. Aaron Cohen, President, Physician Enterprise at Adventist HealthCare, shares, “with this new leadership team in place, led by Daffodil Baez, the Faculty Practice Plan will continue its legacy of providing high-quality, patient-centered health and wellness services to the community.”
