This bright, newly expanded, state-of-the-art fitness and health center currently sees about 24,000 patient encounters a year providing an important step to help members of our community achieve better health.
Recover Faster & Improve Your Quality of Life
Our programs are designed to help people with cardiovascular (e.g., heart attacks, coronary artery bypass graft surgery) and pulmonary conditions (e.g., chronic obstructive pulmonary disease – COPD, respiratory symptoms) recover faster and improve their quality of life. Our programs include exercise, education, counseling and support for patients and their families.
AACVPR Certified Cardiovascular & Pulmonary Rehabilitation
The Center for Fitness & Health at Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove Medical Center is nationally certified by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR) and recognized for our commitment to improving the quality of life by enhancing standards of care.
AACVPR certified programs are recognized as leaders in the field of cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation because they offer the most advanced practices available. AACVPR Program Certification is valid for three years.
Heart Failure Clinic
The Heart Failure Clinic at the Center for Fitness & Health is dedicated to providing patients with congestive heart failure with one-on-one support to help manage their disease and prevent readmission to the hospital. Clinic staff works closely with nurses and doctors to identify patients who would benefit from the clinic, and coordinates care with cardiologists to help patients meet their clinical milestones. The Heart Failure Clinic was named "High Performing in Heart Failure" by U.S. News & World Report for 2019-2020 and 2021-2022.
PAD Rehabilitation
The Center for Fitness & Health at Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove Medical Center is pleased to now offer peripheral artery disease (PAD) rehabilitation—the first rehab program of its kind in the region.
In this medically monitored fitness program, patients will work with a team of nurses and exercise physiologists who will tailor a program based on the patient’s medical history and goals. The focus of the program is improving stamina and reducing PAD symptoms through exercise therapy. The 12-week program is held three times a week.
