Staying Motivated in Your Health Goals

A healthy lifestyle is a lifelong journey, and it’s natural to have spikes and dips in motivation. As the new year approaches, many of us set goals to live a healthier life. Here are our tips for staying motivated all year long:

Keep it simple. You don’t need expensive trainers or gyms to make lasting healthy changes. Instead of overhauling your entire daily routine, try adding in small things like taking the stairs instead of the elevator, replacing soda with water, and taking 15-minute walks during your lunch break.

Set small, attainable goals. Your healthy lifestyle transformation will not happen overnight. Be realistic about your progress, and break larger goals into smaller, more manageable goals. Reaching these smaller goals will keep you motivated towards your larger goals.

Make it fun. It’s easier to stick to something when you enjoy it! Try making healthy eating fun by experimenting in the kitchen, getting your family involved, or trying some healthier options at your favorite restaurants. Find a fitness routine that you enjoy and look forward to.

Join forces. You don’t have to do this alone! Invite coworkers to take daily walks with you at lunchtime. Get your family involved in cooking healthy dinners each night. Organize a group of friends to take weekly fitness classes together. Whatever your goals, it’s always easier with someone there to support you along the way.
