Week 4 Q&A with Johanna

We spoke with Johanna following her fourth week in the Academy to see how things were going. Here's what she told us.

What was something an instructor taught you this week?

This week we learned about the digestive system. We also had the chance to get our hands on the Hoyer Lift!

Did you learn anything that surprised you?

Something surprising that we learned this week was how to use the Glucometer. We learned the difference between Hypoglycemia and Hyperglycemia.

What excited you this week?

What excited me the most this week was going onto the floor and shadow a CNA. I was able to see more of what the CNA role is like.

What challenged you this week?

What challenged me the most was learning about PrimoFit and PrimaFit and how to properly place everything. With practice I was able to get it done.

What has the experience been like with your fellow trainees?

It has been very amazing working and learning with my trainees. I know for a fact we will be amazing in our new role as CNA’s because our instructors do a great job at teaching us what we need to know!

On a scale of 1-10 how difficult was this week?

On a scale of 1-10, this week was about a 6. It is our last week of lectures and hands-on skills. It was a lot of new skills we had to learn such as how to provide oral care and also measuring patient intake and output. It was also a little challenging learning how to convert ounces to milliliters.
