Week 1 Q&A with Johanna
We spoke with Johanna following her first week in the Academy to see how things were going. Here's what she told us.
What was something an instructor taught you this week?
Although it is our first week, we have already learned a lot. We learnt about infection control, the Immune system and Integumentary system. This helps us be aware of how to properly perform proper hand hygiene and correct PPE to avoid transmission of infections.
Did you learn anything that surprised you this week?
This week I learned about how important the immune system and its function is in our bodies. Pathogens are literally trying to attack our bodies every day without us even knowing it.
What excited you most this week?
I was very excited to perform our hands-on skills. We learned how to perform bed baths and CHG baths.
What challenged you most this week?
What challenged me the most was learning the military time. I know with time I will become more used to it.
What has the experience been like with your fellow trainees?
In my opinion, I believe we will all get along and work together. I see everyone smiling and engaging with each other during our hands-on skills which is amazing.
On a scale of 1-10, how difficult was this week?
I would say this week's lesson difficulty level was maybe a four.
