Q&A with Johanna

We went in-depth with Johanna to learn more about her motivations for joining the Academy and here's what she told us.

What were you doing before you started the Academy?

Before starting the CNA Academy, I was a Medical Assistant at a dermatology and varicose veins clinic for 6 years. Thanks to this job, I was able to gain basic knowledge in the healthcare field and learned to build relationships with patients and co-workers. Working here made me realize that I want to see myself grow in the medical field and provide the best care for patients, the care that they deserve.

What motivated you to explore a career as a CNA?

I've always pictured myself in the healthcare field! I want to gain experience and new skills working as a CNA and to one day carry those amazing skills to continue providing outstanding care to patients. I want patients to feel better and to know they are not alone and have someone who cares about them by their side.

What attracted you to Adventist HealthCare?

What attracted me to a career at Adventist Healthcare was its reputation and how welcoming they are. My daughter was born at one of the Adventist Healthcare Hospitals and it was the best experience. I will always remember that and it just showed how Adventist Healthcare and its employees stand to their mission.

What do you hope to learn through this program?

I hope to learn many new skills that will allow me to properly take care of our patients and assist me in moving up in my career path in the medical field.

What's your vision for your healthcare career after the Academy?

My vision for my healthcare career is to see myself be proud of the care I provide to our patients. My goal is to one day become a Registered Nurse. I look forward to working as a CNA while gaining new skills and attending school. All the skills and experience as a CNA will also help me be a better "future" nurse.
