About T Newsome
T. Lydel Newsome, MD, is a board-certified internal medicine physician with Adventist Medical Group.
Dr. Newsome received his medical degree from Southern Illinois University School of Medicine and completed his internal medicine residency at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore.
He has experience researching and presenting on several health topics including Lyme carditis, hypopituitarism and nonischemic cardiomyopathy. Dr. Newsome has also been published in the Journal of Community Hospital Internal Medicine Perspectives.
Dr. Newsome chose to go into internal medicine because he enjoys not only providing great evidence-based care to his patients but also teaching them the importance of preventive measures to avoid the worsening of current conditions as well as possible future medical complications. He believes it is very important that before a patient can improve their health (with or without the assistance of medication), they must truly understand what their condition is and how it could have been prevented.
His special interests include managing diabetes, thyroid disease and high blood pressure.
Dr. Newsome has volunteered in the community for several organizations including the Eastside Community Health initiative and Compass for Kids, Inc. In his spare time, Dr. Newsome enjoys watching movies, running and socializing with friends and family.
