About Omar Shams
Omar Shams, MD, is board-certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease and cardiac electrophysiology. He competed his residency in internal medicine at Ochsner Clinic Foundation in New Orleans, LA. Dr. Shams has also completed a fellowship in cardiovascular disease at Ochsner Clinic Foundation in New Orleans, LA, as well as a fellowship in cardiac electrophysiology at University of Maryland in Baltimore, MD.
Dr. Shams is the former director of Cardiac Electrophysiology at Bon Secours Mercy Health System and served as chair of the Department of Cardiology at St. Francis Hospital, both in Richmond, VA. He has written and contributed to a multitude of peer-reviewed journal articles. During his time in Richmond, VA, Dr. Shams was consistently named a “Top Doc” in Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology by Richmond Magazine.
