About Norman "Trey" Godwin III
Norman Earl (Trey) Godwin III, MD, is a physiatrist who specializes in Sports Medicine at Adventist HealthCare Rehabilitation. He is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and Sports Medicine. Prior to joining Adventist HealthCare, he completed a fellowship in Sports Medicine at Atlantic Sports Health in New Jersey. During that time, he served as fellow team physician for the New York Jets and Seton Hall University. In addition to his experience at the professional and collegiate Division I levels, he has been a team physician for numerous schools at the high school and collegiate Division III levels.
Dr. Godwin uses a multidimensional approach tailored to each patient, for the treatment of their musculoskeletal conditions, which can include arm, leg and back problems. His clinical interests also include concussion management and musculoskeletal ultrasound. He believes in the importance of staying active on a daily basis.
Dr. Godwin earned his medical degree at Wake Forest School of Medicine and completed his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Temple University Hospital. He has presented at national conferences, including at the NFL Combine during the NFL Physicians Society’s General Medical Meeting.
Dr. Godwin has participated in a wide variety of both team and individual sports. His first passion was competing as a pitcher in baseball. He continues to enjoy the outdoor activities he experienced as an Eagle Scout such as hiking, camping and fishing. He currently plays softball and is an avid skier. Family and faith are important aspects of his life.
