Senior Vice President & General Counsel

Dwayne Leslie serves as the Senior Vice President and General Counsel for Adventist HealthCare. As the chief legal officer, Dwayne oversees all legal, governance, risk management, compliance, internal audit and government relations functions for the health system.

Since joining Adventist HealthCare in 2019, Dwayne has leveraged his legal expertise and institutional knowledge to support Adventist HealthCare’s Vision to provide a world-class patient experience to every person, every time. Prior to becoming General Counsel, Dwayne served as the system’s Vice President, Deputy General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer, where he enhanced compliance reporting to AHC’s Audit Committee, including designing data-driven dashboards to track investigation trends, enterprise risks and regulatory initiatives.

Dwayne draws on more than 25 years of additional legal experience, including working as a healthcare attorney at both Jones Day and Mintz Levin. Additionally, he served as General Counsel for a specialty pharmaceutical company as well as AVP, Associate General Counsel for HealthCare Financial Partners (NYSE: HCF).

Some examples of Dwayne’s commitment to community service include board member roles at the College of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences at Howard University, ADRA International, and the Adventist Bioethics Consortium.

Dwayne earned his law degree from the University of California at Berkeley and his undergraduate degree at Andrews University. He has also attained a certificate in healthcare management from the Yale School of Management and a certificate in management from Harvard Business School. Dwayne is certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) and was a Presidential Leadership Scholar, the unique bipartisan leadership program developed by Bill Clinton and George W. Bush.
