John Sackett

President & Chief Executive Officer

John became President & CEO of Adventist HealthCare in August 2024 after serving as Adventist HealthCare’s chief operating officer since 2014 and as president of Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove Medical Center from 2013–2019. Among John’s many leadership initiatives, he helped launch Adventist HealthCare’s Leadership System and its Standard Management Approach that earned a Malcolm Baldrige Category Best Practice Recognition, one of the nation’s highest honors for performance excellence. He also guided the health system’s expansion of comprehensive care services through the integration of additional acute-care hospitals and significant campus improvement projects.

Prior to joining Adventist HealthCare, John served for 24 years as president and chief executive officer at Avista Adventist Hospital, a comprehensive medical center in Louisville, Colorado. Under John’s leadership, Avista earned some of the country’s best patient experience scores and ranked among the top hospitals for physician and employee satisfaction. John’s career has also been shaped by a commitment to core values. When Avista joined Centura Health in 1996, John served for three years as the system’s Senior Vice President for Mission and Ministry. Public service is also important to John, who served on the Louisville City Council during a portion of his tenure at Avista.

John received his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Walla Walla University and his master’s degree in health administration from Loma Linda University. John has served on numerous local boards and is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
