Two Adventist HealthCare Affiliates Receive Workplace Excellence Award

Rockville, Md. - Two Adventist HealthCare affiliates - Adventist Rehabilitation Hospital of Maryland and LifeWork Strategies -  are winners of the 2008 Workplace Excellence Award presented by the Alliance for Workplace Excellence. The award recognizes employers who have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to helping employees achieve professional fulfillment and work/life balance. This is the second year in a row that Adventist Rehabilitation Hospital of Maryland and LifeWork Strategies have each received the award.

Applicants for the award underwent a comprehensive and rigorous assessment by an Independent Review Panel. Winners had to demonstrate exemplary commitment in all of the following categories: commitment to supportive corporate culture and management practices; family and employee friendly policies and practices; strong employee health and wellness initiatives; comprehensive growth and learning opportunities; and a demonstration to corporate social responsibility and employee volunteerism.

Adventist Rehabilitation Hospital of Maryland offers employees a wide-range of services including a loan assistance program, a mentorship program for registered nurses seeking certification in rehabilitation medicine and multiple award programs.

LifeWork Strategies offers employees the same services that it provides to area organizations to help them curb rising costs and increase employee satisfaction. These services include confidential counseling, wellness coaching, health screenings, access to more than 200 wellness seminars, and consultation on elder and child care as well as legal and financial issues.

The Alliance for Workplace Excellence  (AWE) is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping companies in the greater Washington, D.C., area become great places to work.

Adventist Rehabilitation Hospital of Maryland  is the first and only acute rehabilitation hospital in Montgomery County.  It offers comprehensive rehabilitation programs for traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, strokes, amputations, orthopedic injuries and surgeries, sports related injuries, work-related injuries, cardiopulmonary conditions and neurological disorders. Adventist Rehab has locations in Rockville and Takoma Park with an outpatient services in Rockville and Silver Spring.

LifeWork Strategies  is a joint venture between Adventist HealthCare and InforMed that offers employers a comprehensive suite of products, which includes Wellness Programs, Employee Assistance Programs, Work/Life Services, Data Analytics  and Medical Management, to successfully help them curb rising medical care costs while helping their employees and their dependents utilize the medical care system more effectively.
