Washington Adventist Hospital offers one of the most comprehensive and advanced sleep medicine programs in the Washington, DC area. Our center uses state-of-the-art technology allowing us to monitor brain waves, breathing function, muscle activity, heartbeat, eye movement, snoring activity and blood oxygen during sleep to ensure an accurate diagnosis.
Our Services
The diagnostic sleep testing performed at our center includes but is not limited to:
- Polysomnogram (PSG) - A test designed to analyze a person’s physical state during sleep. It is a painless test, which will monitor sleep patterns, breathing patterns, heart function, muscle activity, brain waves and other important factors.
- CPAP Titration - The medical treatment phase of the polysomnograpy test. After polysomnograpnic analysis identifies a patient to have sleep disordered breathing. A patient is place on a CPAP Machine via mask or nasal pillows. The patient is then allow to resume sleeping. The CPAP devices is adjusted gradually throughout the night until snoring and apnea are effectively treated.
- Split-Night Polysomnogram – A test used to rule out obstructive sleep apnea. This test allows for the initiation airway pressure (NCPAP) titration to occur during the initial, first night of study in the sleep lab, thereby eliminating the need for a second night of testing.
- Multiple Sleep Latency Test (MSLT) – A test designed to analyze a person’s degree of daytime sleepiness by determining how rapidly a person falls asleep. During this painless test you will be asked to take five twenty-minute naps, at two-hour intervals.
