Two decisions you will make early in your pregnancy are the selection of your health care provider and your birth location. Making these decisions can be a difficult task, especially if you are new to the community. You should consider questions like:

• Where is the doctor's office located?
• Will it be easy for you to get there?
• Which hospital does the doctor use?
• Do they both accept my insurance?

Ideally, you should be comfortable with both the hospital as well as the doctor. To ensure the personalized birth experience you desire, Shady Grove provides expecting parents access to a personal Birth Advisor who is available to meet with you to discuss your upcoming birth or discuss plans for a future “event”.

Meet Our Birth Advisor

Susan Hine, RN Birth Advisor, Labor & Delivery Nurse Susan Hine, RN is a Labor and Delivery staff nurse and Birth Advisor at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital in Rockville, MD. Susan has been a nurse for more than 30 years, graduating from the University of Maryland with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She has a strong clinical background both in Labor and Delivery as well as Critical Care.
