A Message from Our Chairman
We have an exciting year ahead with many initiatives in progress, including the opening of our new patient tower in the fall, and the implementation of Care Excellence, our new clinical IT system. Working together, we will make it a year of great accomplishments.
Exceptional Care Reaches New Heights
The finest in individual care delivered in a comforting way - that’s Shady Grove Adventist Hospital’s new, four-story patient tower scheduled to open this Fall.
Speaking Up About Vascular Surgery
Joseph Shelton is no stranger to hospital care. More than ten years ago, he lost his larynx — the "voicebox" — to cancer and had to learn a new way to speak. Joseph had an 80% blockage of the carotid artery, the artery that sends blood to the brain. Just last year, physicians discovered a dangerous blockage in Joseph’s carotid artery.
Pediatric Intensive Care and a Little Mermaid
A few days before her 8th birthday, Heli was at the pool, practicing holding her breath underwater. In a sudden and frightening turn of events, she lost consciousness, and was brought to the surface, not breathing and without a heartbeat.
Shady Grove Adventist Hospital Is Recognized for High Quality Care in Bariatric Surgery
Shady Grove Adventist Hospital’s Bariatric Surgery program was just named as a Center of Excellence by the American Society for Bariatric Surgery (ASBS). This designation recognizes surgical programs with a demonstrated track record of favorable outcomes in bariatric surgery.
A Little Two Early
At the age of 37 with fraternal twins on the way, Kristin van de Geer and her husband Michael knew that Kristin was at risk for a premature birth. "Of course, you never think it’s going to be you,” she says. “But three months ahead of schedule, I started going into labor."
