Residential Treatment Center
The Potomac Ridge Residential Treatment Center of Anne Arundel County serves 28 adolescent residents under contract with the Maryland State Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. Residents are seriously challenged from psychiatric, behavioral and educational perspectives. Our treatment philosophy focuses on the fundamental ideals of nurturing, challenging and strengthening our residents.
Program Highlights
The Potomac Ridge Residential Treatment Center of Anne Arundel County is an integrated school and residential program. Residents attend The Ridge School of Anne Arundel County, which is located on our campus. The Residential Treatment Center at Anne Arundel consists of adjacent 13-bed male and female residential wings with an outside recreational area and “challenge course.” Care providers use the Mandt System® process which focuses on building therapeutic relationships through increased communication to resolve conflicts in a safe environment.

Multi-disciplinary assessment and treatment combining medical and social models
- Individualized treatment built around 19 core aspects of functioning
- Behavioral co-management system that incorporates a token economy and increasing levels of privilege consistent with behavior and achievement
- Individual, group and family therapy incorporating a cognitive behavioral approach
- Substance abuse assessment, education and treatment
- Recreational life skills, and spiritual therapy
- Social skills, life skills and spiritual development
- Anger management
- Social role modeling and regular reinforcement of positive behaviors including behavioral support intervention team (BIST)
